As the founder of MacPhail Family Wines, James MacPhail connects his passions for local business, agriculture, and community. With family at the forefront of James’ life—and the center of MacPhail Family Wines—it’s no surprise that his passions have a shared family history.
James grew up north of San Francisco in Marin County. Since the 1880s, members of his father’s family have proudly participated in the local business community. James’ mother was raised on a dairy farm in western Sonoma County where she remained tied to her Tomales Bay community and regularly engaged James in the lives of the region’s farming families.
It’s thanks to his family that a love for the land and a passion for business are at the center of James MacPhail’s life.
